Dental Lumineers/Veneers
Lumineers/Veneers
Are thin custom made shells made of porcelain that are designed to cover the front teeth. They are fabricated by a dental technician, usually in a commercial dental laboratory, from a model provided by Dr. Plocher and his staff. Lumineers/Veneers are used to close gaps or cover teeth that are stained, poorly shaped, or slightly crooked.
The veneer process typically takes two appointments to complete. The procedure starts with removing a small amount of enamel from your tooth and possibly bleaching maybe needed to improve the color matching of the tooth. An impression of the tooth is taken and then sent to a dental laboratory where the veneer is made to match the color and shape of your teeth. On the second appointment the veneer is attach by roughening the tooth with a mild etching solution to allow better bonding of the veneer. The veneer is then bonded to the tooth using composite resin cement.
